Acupuncture for Fertility: Appropriate for You?

By Shawn · Comments (0)

{Acupuncture and Infertility} – Tracing Its Roots

Acupuncture, which originated in China, is over a thousand years old.  In the West, many people in the field of medicine consider it a valid procedure for treating an array of ailments.  It has the ability to relieve muscle tension, help a person quit smoking, and improve skin quality, among many other benefits.  Reports from latest studies reveal that acupuncture is highly beneficial to couples with infertility issues.

The West’s Point Of View

Despite its popularity, a lot of Westerners still doubt the effectiveness of acupuncture.  No scientific evidence is available to support acupuncture and, as a result, many healthcare professionals are reluctant to recommend it.  But many researchers are already investigating the issue, according to the National Institutes of Health in the United States.

Health Risks

Acupuncture is generally painless when it is done by a highly-trained professional.  Adverse effects have been observed in only very few people.  Common risks associated with the practice of acupuncture are organ puncturing, forgotten needles, some bleeding (although very minimal), and the spreading of infection.  These can be eliminated by having the treatment peformed by an experienced professional.  However, people who have bleeding disorders and those who use blood thinning agents should not use acupuncture.

Solo Versus Complementary

Acupuncture may be used as a single procedure to complement fertility treatments.  It is also seen as therapy that can complement modern fertility treatments.  Used as a single method, acupuncture brings positive results to people who have functional reproductive problems, like intermittent ovulation.  By itself, effectiveness in treating structural problems, as with sperm duck blockage, could be weak.

Some acupuncture practitioners recommend that Chinese herbs be used alongside acupuncture procedures and treatments.  If you are taking prescription drugs, check with your doctor before starting any program of herb therapy.  Some herbal medications prevent the proper functioning of some fertility drugs and processes.

{Acupuncture and Fertility} - Does It Truly Work?

How acupuncture works as a {cure of infertility} is still debatable.  However, many acupuncturists stress that even this age-old therapy can aid in normalizing the body’s functions.  It helps boost blood flow into reproductive organs and regulates hormone levels.  The result is improved ovarian function in women and increased sperm production in males.

Acupuncture positively affects women who use it together with other procedures that aim to boost fertility.   Acupuncture has been found to help women relax while undergoing fertility procedures.  Recent researches show that a woman undergoing in vitro fertilization has a higher chance of conception if acupuncture is introduced into therapy.

Selecting The Best Practitioner

In order to practice acupuncture, doctors are required to complete more or less 300 hours of special training before they are awarded a certification.  Those licensed in other medical fields must still complete 2000 to 3000 hours of training and pass the board exam to be officially called an acupuncturist.

More and more people are seeing the benefits and are now practicing acupuncture.  There are few things one must consider to make sure patients land in good hands.  A background check on the selected acupuncture expert must be done prior to agreeing to any procedure.  A professional must first acquire the approval of the local government and undergo certain trainings before he or she can practice in a specific area.Reliable recommendations for acupuncture services would be family and friends who’ve benefited from the them.

Would-be patients should first inquire about ballpark total expenses just to be prepared with the costs early on.  It is good to know that certain insurance plans include acupuncture expenses in their roster.

What To Watch Out For

One has to go through several acupuncture sessions in order to attain the best results.  To get the best out of acupuncture, regular visits must me made to the chosen practitioner, which can run between a few weeks to a few months.  Expect every visit to the acupuncturist to last about an hour, as the practitioner will be discussing your current health status in detail and entertain whatever queries you might have on the process.

You’re Going To Have A Baby: Now What?

By Shawn · Comments (0)

What was your reaction when you’re midwife said, ‘Congratulations, you’re expecting a baby?’ Most women are overjoyed at the possibility of new life within their womb and can hardly wait until it’s born. There are many things you will want to do in preparation for the arrival of this new family member. Here is an early pregnancy guide for you to follow.

Begin to exercise regularly. Exercise has several functions in pregnancy. It will help you strengthen your body muscles so they will be able to support the weight of the baby. It will help you to maintain a normal weight gain and not gain extra weight during your pregnancy. Exercise will, also, help you keep a happy, positive outlook on life and keep you from getting depressed.

Doctors say that if you normally play a sport, you can continue to do so in the early months of your pregnancy as long as you don’t run a risk of getting hit or falling. Other exercises you can choose from are aqua-aerobics, walking, swimming or yoga.

Eat a good, healthy diet. Eat lots of fresh vegetables and fruit. In the morning cut carrot slices, and place them on a tray with slices of apples, kiwis and oranges. Add different kinds of berries as well. Leave the tray in the refrigerator, and snack from it throughout the day when you feel hungry. You won’t gain extra weight even if you eat a lot of fruits.

Have you heard about the new acai berry juice? It’s one of the new super foods that is full of vitamins and minerals. Now that you are pregnant, it would be a good idea to buy acai berry juice and drink it throughout the day. It has a chocolate, berry flavor that is different from other juices, but it is delicious. You can use it in deserts or to make smoothies, in order to have something a little bit different.

Now that you are expecting a baby, you need to put your health and the health of your baby ahead of your own desires. Stop smoking, drinking alcohol and using drugs. If you are using these things, you are already destroying your own health, but you can greatly damage the health of your baby, too.

Do you drink a lot of coffee, soda pop and tea? Are you a big chocolate fan? These things all act as a mild stimulant in your body, and they can have an effect on your baby, too. There is a higher risk of miscarriage and of having a small, underweight baby in women who consume high quantities of caffeine.

Now that you are sure you are expecting a baby, spend time preparing yourself for its birth. Eat healthy food, exercise every day and drink lots of juice from the acai berry.

By Shawn · Comments (0)

When you’re having a baby it should be a time that you enjoy in life. Yes you will have early pregnancy signs that will let you know that you are pregnant. Just watch for them, and when you think your having a baby set up an appointment to see your doctor to verify it.

Of course one of the major signs of being pregnant will be the fact that you’ve missed your period. Though there have been some cases where a woman could still have her period and be pregnant. Another sign is the upper back pain that you may feel. It’s going to get worse as the months go on, so you may want to get use to it.

Obviously when you are carrying another person in your body, you’re going to notice weight gain. However, you have a way that will allow you to not have to buy a whole bunch of new pants right away. The belly belt will be attached to your pants and make them feasible to wear for a longer time.

Being tired will become a part of life, it will seem like you’re not able to do as many things as you once could. But that’s okay, make sure that you get plenty of rest, because remember that your nourishing a baby now.

One of the other bad things about being pregnant is that your breast will become a bit tender. Some women don’t experience this as bad as others do. But swelling and tenderness can hurt pretty bad in some cases.

Sending someone out to buy some really weird food may happen too. Food cravings for different things can happen. Everyone is different and you most likely won’t experience the same cravings as someone else. Personally I loved milk when I was pregnant drank about a gallon in a day and a half.

Of course you will also notice that you may have more headaches, and even heartburn. All you have to do is make sure that you are taking care of yourself and the baby. Keep those appointments with the doctor and take your vitamins like you’re supposed too.

Be ready with a list of baby names, it’s a fun and joyful time that you need to enjoy in your life. Make sure that you take care of the baby and yourself during this time too.

Infertility Help – Information On Herbs

By Shawn · Comments (0)

Not so long ago plants and herbs provided natural remedies for all kinds of ailments and diseases. The use of herbs has continued to the forefront in the East, and in so called ‘less developed’ civilisations, but is now becoming popular once again in this part of the world.

Problems such as infertility can be treated naturally with herbal remedies. You may not have considered an herbal alternative to help conceive, so let me introduce you to some of the most popular herbal supplements used in the treatment of infertility. You can find out more about Infertility in my new ebook – How To Cure Infertility – Naturally

Herbs For Female Infertility

Licorice – yes this is actually a herb, and it is very useful for women who have high testosterone levels, as it helps in bringing them back to a more normal level. Licorice should not be used as a treatment in cases of high blood pressure.

Vitex – is a slow acting herb and may take several months to build up in your system. It can take up to 18 months using Vitex before pregnancy might occur. Another note of caution – you cannot take vitex while taking the fertility drug Clomid – or any drug like Clomid. Vitex will help to minimize the symptoms of PMS, and it helps improve fertility in cases where it is caused by hormonal imbalances.

Evening Primrose Oil (EPO) – lowers cholesterol, helps to alleviate PMS and most importantly here, aids in the production of fertile quality cervical fluid, also known as “egg white cervical mucus.” This is because fertile cervical fluid is thin, watery, clear and “stretchy” and easily aids the sperm to swim through the uterus and into the fallopian tube, and to the egg. If there is a shortage of cervical fluid, it will impede and can prevent fertilization. Drinking plenty of water and taking EPO can help in the production of fertile cervical fluid. Also, this type of fluid helps the sperm to stay alive for up to five days inside the fallopian tube, thus enabling conception to happen even if you don’t have intercourse again by the time ovulation occurs.

Herbs For Male Infertility

Baby Shower: The Welcoming Committe on Board

By Shawn · Comments (0)

Receiving news about being pregnant is one of the best news at all.  Well, this might be the second best next to the grand proposal. Hearing that your love has finally borne fruit is similar to getting icing on the cake. If you are a first time mother, then it might be a bit challenging to find the right equipment that your baby will need.

[Baby Shower Gifts]

Moms-to-be need to list down all the things the baby would need at the soonest possible time so that little by little, each item can already be purchased and readied for the baby’s arrival. However, there is another easy way to almost have it all, without getting too much headache over it.

The solution is to hold a baby shower party! The only headache mom-to-be would have is the menu she would have to prepare on that day and that is easier for her.

The burden of coming up with the right baby stuff can be challenging for the invitees. However, another concern that comes up would be, how will the baby shower go?

The best answer there is, is to have a theme that would guide the flow of the baby shower. There are several ways of choosing and deciding on a theme. Do you want it to be based on color?

In case you already know the gender of the baby, pink or blue is used to universally represent a baby girl or a baby boy. Or baby items such as a pacifier or a baby bottle? How about character-themed baby shower such as the Sesame Street, Power Puff Girls, Dexter’s Laboratory or the Looney Tunes?

It could also be a time-of-the-day baby shower whereby each invitee is tasked to bring something the baby would need or use during that time of the day.

From www.best-baby-gift-guide.com, it suggests wonderful baby shower gift ideas such as  a baby gift basket, a layette gift set, vital baby equipment, beautiful baby linen, a baby massage set, or a baby gift certificate.

Each gift idea is unique. For the baby gift basket, some ideas they suggest is to create your own baby gift basket or go for the classical clothing baby gift basket where you can never go wrong.

You can also go for monogrammed baby gift baskets, fun baby basket, mother and baby basket, gift basket for twins, or a pampering baby gift basket. They also have different suggestions for baby girl and baby boys.

For the complete descriptions for each item, just visit their website and read on to find fantastic baby gift ideas.

Once the baby shower is finished, take stock of what is already there and not. For those items still missing from your list, make the necessary arrangements to have it readily available once the baby arrives.

Just some last few tips for a successful baby shower: hold it four to six weeks before the due date, establish a theme, write down the guest list, set the tone and size of the baby shower, plan the games, plan the menu, create baby shower party favors, and last but not the least, set the time and location, if it will not be held in your residence.

Remember, baby showers are a fun way to welcome the baby that would be coming soon enough.

The Common Problems Of Being Pregnant

By Shawn · Comments (0)

There are a lot of changes taking place in your body during pregnancy that you should be aware of. These changes occur as part of the trimesters that you go through, with the first and third of them typically being the worst in the sense that you probably feel most discomfort during those periods.

Morning sickness or, for that matter, a feeling of nausea any time of the day, is a very common consequence of pregnancy, and happens most frequently in the first trimester. There also may be an increased sensitivity to smells which will trigger nausea. Sometimes these smells are ones that are typically enjoyed when not pregnant.

Urinary frequency and thirst in prenatal care is another common side effect of pregnancy. Women tend to be more thirsty and need more nourishment, including drinking plenty of water. Drinking more fluids, coupled with the uterus growing and pressing on your bladder, will cause you to have to urinate a lot more frequently than normal. This is common throughout the pregnancy but is most pronounced during the first and last trimesters. During the second trimester, this usually subsides a bit, but most women will still have a sense of having to urinate more frequently than when not pregnant.

You may find yourself having problems trying to get to sleep, as this is something that many pregnant women experience. Try to avoid taking any medication to help you sleep, unless it is expressly advised to you by your doctor. A better approach is to simply work on making your sleeping area more comfortable and performing relaxation techniques.

You skin, nails and hair will also undergo changes when you become pregnant, as a result of unbalances in your hormonal levels. It is best not to attempt to do anything drastic, but rather just accept that you won’t be looking your best for a while. If you try to apply various treatments to rectify these issues, not only will they probably not work, but you will also be putting yourself in contact with a range of chemicals – something that you definitely want to avoid doing whilst you are pregnant.

Having pregnancy care information from your obstetrician will help you to cope with these changes in your body. Also, remember that this are just temporary conditions and that your body will go back to normal shortly after giving birth.

Staying Fit While Pregnant

By Shawn · Comments (0)

You’re tired, even exhausted. You’re emotionally drained from the day. To make matters worse, you haven’t had a good night’s sleep in over a week. And of course, your growing body is making you feel simultaneously uncomfortable and sluggish. Even though pregnancy is a joyous experience that you probably don’t regret, it still has its challenges. If only it were less mentally and physically taxing.

You would jump at the chance to have more energy throughout the day. What if you could relieve the frustrating symptoms that accompany pregnancy? Wouldn’t you like to alleviate headaches and backaches and regain the balance you once enjoyed? Maintaining a daily exercise routine can deliver all of these benefits.

In this article, we’ll explain the reasons you should create and follow a daily fitness regimen while you’re pregnant. We’ll provide a few guidelines to follow and describe the types of exercises that will deliver the best results.

Reasons To Exercise During Your Pregnancy

One of the most frustrating annoyances of being pregnant is the seemingly constant fatigue that envelopes your body and mind. It happens primarily during the first and third trimesters. Embarking on a daily fitness routine will improve your mood while it gives you a new level of physical energy. That’s due to the endorphins that are released during your workout.

You’ll also find that regular physical activity will help you sleep more soundly, relieve the tension in your back, and reduce your constipation (common during pregnancy). Many women even report that a daily fitness regimen helped them experience an easier, shorter labor.

Following A Few Guidelines

Make sure you discuss any new fitness plan with your obstetrician. After all, your body is going through dramatic changes. You’re more susceptible to dehydration and overheating while you’re pregnant, which can be dangerous for you and your baby. Your doctor may want to recommend certain restrictions on your activity given your personal circumstances.

Pick low-impact activities. Walking and swimming are both popular with moms-to-be because they’re safe, easy on the joints, and don’t introducing balancing issues. Also, be open to modifying your workout routine as your body grows and your balance shifts. And of course, start slow, especially if you’re unaccustomed to working out.

3 Types Of Exercises To Focus On

Try to work your cardiovascular system, but also do exercises that help improve your strenth and flexibility. Weights can be valuable for building your muscles and strengthening your bones. Focus on repetitions rather than the amount of weight you’re lifting.

Stretching is especially useful for relieving aches and pains that accumulate within your shoulders, back, and legs. But, be careful. Your joints will probably be more relaxed during your pregnancy; take care not to strain your muscles.

Walking and swimming are excellent activities for strengthening your heart and lungs. Plus, because you’ll be burning calories, these exercises are a great way to stay fit while feeling energized.

You don’t have to feel sluggish, uncomfortable, and perpetually fatigued during your pregnancy. Create an exercise routine, discuss it with your doctor, don your favorite workout maternity clothes, and start getting into shape. You’ll be glad you did.
